Everyone loves a great comeback story. That is exactly what we have here in this 1969 Ford Mustang Convertible Resto-Mod. This Mustang convertible started its life as a 210HP 302 cubic inch V8, convertible finished in Candy Apple Red. It was later purchased by Ed Herensky, who undertook the project of turning it into a full-time drag car. At this time, the chassis was heavily modified and stiffened for the purpose of competing at the drag strip. Also, the factory 2V 302 V8 was replaced with a big-block Ford 428 cobra jet producing enough power and torque to easily lift the front tires off the ground. Eventually, this Mustang served its purposed for the Herensky family and they pulled the engine and sold the car as a roller. Which brings us to this Mustang's comeback. The Mustang changed ownership and ultimately found its way to northern Indiana where the current owner took on the project of converting it to the beautiful resto-mod it is today. The owner specifically sought out a well-built ex-drag car to be the base of his build since drag cars rarely see weather and the chassis would be properly modified and inspected. The Mustang still retains the same Red exterior paint and Red, Blue and Silver metallic painted stripe appearance that it wore when it was dominating the strip with the exception of the sponsor stickers it used to wear. The exterior paint shows excellent for the age with no age cracks or thin spots. The excellent custom red exterior is complimented nicely by its 428 Cobra Jet hood scoop, its excellent white convertible top and a set of American Racing Torq-Thrust wheels. The custom Black leather/suede interior shows excellent with no signs of wear. The interior is complimented nicely by a set of custom TMI Black leather seats, a Black leather/suede center console with cupholders, a UPR Billet Trick Stick shifter, Carbon fiber dash inlays, and all-new Autometer gauges. Although this Mustang is no longer powered by its "ground pounding" 428 Cobra Jet, it has found a very suitable replacement in the form of a very well built, fuel-injected, Ford 408 cubic inch stroker V8. Transferring power to the rear end is a Tremec TKO 5-speed manual transmission. Both the engine and transmission perform just as they should and deliver a very exciting driving experience. The Mustang's chassis still retains all of its added bracing and structure from when it was a drag car and the suspension has been upgraded with front coil-overs, front anti-sway bar, and tubular control arms front and rear. The stiffened chassis and suspension upgrades provide a comfortable and sporty ride free of any rattles or squeaks commonly heard in this generation of convertible. This Mustang handles extremely well and has no problem keeping the power generated by this very well built 408 stroker V8 planted to the road. Adding to the ease of driving this great Mustang are the 4-wheel power disc brakes that bring the car to a halt with ease. This Mustang Resto-Mod is well equipped with features such as: power steering,4 wheel power disc brakes, Boss touch screen stereo with Bluetooth, Autometer gauges, center console with cupholders, and Pioneer speakers. Included with the car, at the time of sale, is a box of receipts documenting the build and photos of when this car was on the track. If you are in the market for a turn-key Resto-Mod Mustang that runs and drives excellent and has a great history that any car enthusiast can appreciate, then you will want to take a close look at this excellent example of a 1969 Ford Mustang Convertible.
