George Barris has built some of the most iconic and famous custom cars of all time including the Lincoln Futura Batmobile, KITT, Drag-U-La, and the Munster Coach. Barris was the leader of the Kustom car movement and an inspiration to many customizers today. George Barris designed the C-Cab T-Buggy in 1970 with the intent to offer it as a kit to the public. In coordination with the production of the Barris C-Cab T-Buggy, Barris commissioned model kits of the buggy to be produced by AMT, advertised in many custom car magazines and even had playing cards made featuring the buggy. However, due to the high price of the kit, only 12 C-Cab T-Buggy kits were ever produced and even fewer remain on the road today. This 1972 George Barris C-Cab T-Buggy is an excellent example of these rare pieces of George Barris history. Having received a recent nut-and-bolt restoration, this buggy presents in overall excellent condition with only 169 miles on the restoration. The Bright Yellow exterior is in excellent condition and shines very well. All of the exterior chrome is in excellent condition and shines brightly. The exterior is complimented nicely by the period-correct Barris T-Buggy decals, Barris T-Buggy embroidered hood straps, and a set of vintage Cragar S/S chrome wheels. The custom Black and Red vinyl interior is in excellent condition and features many great period-correct touches including: wooden sport steering wheel, Empi shifter w/ Barris shift knob, and 8-track player w/ FM tuner. Powering this amazing Barris T-Buggy is its VW 1600 dual-port 4-cylinder engine backed by a 4-speed manual transmission. Both the engine and transmission perform as they should with no issue. The VW 1600cc engine delivers that great flat-four VW sound breathing through a Tri-Mil dual exhaust setup. If you are a George Barris fan and want to own a rare piece of George Barris history or are just in the market for an unique VW Buggy that is turn key ready to cruise or show anywhere, then you will need to take a very close look at this very rare 1972 George Barris C-Cab T-Buggy.
